LOS ANGELES: From an LA landmark to a painterly skyscape and Star Wars droids, structures for Canstruction LA 2016 raised 20,030 pounds of food—enough for the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank to feed 16,691 people. This was the 10-year anniversary of Canstruction LA, a design/build competition among teams of architects, engineers, and contractors who create huge structures out of cans of nutritious food.
